You're entirely missing the significance, ScottCDunn.

We are defending international law. That sovereign countries are not invaded by their neighbors. This is NOT dependent on the country being a democracy.

If the likes of Putin are licensed to engage in this lawlessness, the world will become less secure and less prosperous.

Aside: Ukraine is not more like neighboring Poland because it is not part of the EU and has suffered decades of interference from Russia.
