Discrimination because of race, sex, religion etc. Because of money or wealth? I'm not so sure. Checks and balances on abuse of power, yes.

A smaller point maybe. The dozen or so (no idea really how many) famous wealthy folk entering NZ doesn't have to mean that a dozen less comfortable immigrants remain excluded or even in line. Not a zero-sum gain.

On my last visit to NZ, I advocated that the country import a few hundred thousand Syrian refugees. I couldn't get anyone to engage in a conversation on the proposal. Here in the U.S. at least I got a few jeers.
