You are right Laura. Anything to lift the writing off the pages, I think is valid. We may reach for all kinds of tools (and tricks) to communicate more easily — more enjoyably (so you want to read on).

Words can be mixed with other media, too. Music, voices, cartoons, photos and moving images may be grabbed to introduce, play-out, color, project and punctuate the written. Why not!

I am a keen reader of The Economist — have been for years. It would be tart indeed without the cartoons, graphs and covers.
