Yes Mike, the audacity is quite something. Oil companies seem to be showing no community spirit at all. It's like the video store wanting compensation because customers moved to streaming.

Hopefully some oil companies understand that they are in the energy business and much of what they do can be applied to alternative sources.

Saving jobs will be proclaimed in their case -- as U.S. coal and steel industries have done before them. But this can be countered by agreeing to pay directly those left unemployed and NOT the companies themselves.

National security will be the other cry. Which is of course balls. It's in national security (and prosperity) to make the transition to zero carbon energy -- which they can actually participate and be valuable.

I'm sure the oil companies will come to their senses -- as long as we don't allow them not to.
