This is Putin's war and not Russia's.

Putin wanted Ukraine under his thumb and paying rent. When Ukraine wanted out of this relationship, Putin threatened and then assaulted to get compliance. When Ukraine fought back, it then had to be killed.

Classic mobster stuff.

All the rest, such as NATO expansion, history, defense of Russians, religion, nazism, etc., is garnish.
