To our credit, we are more thoughtful toward other species than previously. We can do better, and progress coincides with human well-being -- particularly economically and politically.

Wars are unhelpful.

America is doing amazingly well economically, but politically, there are cracks. Next week, we visit the polls to choose between a more-of-the-same or step-back president.

We are relying ever more on the pragmatism of the business world to pull us through, as excellent political leadership is in short supply worldwide.
