Tom Egelhoff, we don't want to shut off fossil fuels without having a replacement for them. That can lead to a backlash or stall in our move to green energy. The pace of the transition is actually important though. The cost of not making the fundamental changes can overtake the cost of correcting the problem. It would be foolish to let this happen.

As far as evidence and science. We go with the best we have at the time. We can get it wrong of course but it's by far our best bet.
