Thoughtful and excellent article Monica Harris.

Like many people, I have been in pain over this affair.

Awful behaviors were progressively exposed. From a comedian's crass line to his physical assault by a person from the audience. And an audience comatose in their seats long after they believed their eyes. Were security still looking after the door? and what in God's name was the Academy doing?

It got even worse.

The person responsible for the assault was invited back on to the stage. This time to be given time and a standing ovation.

It was all too reminiscent of Donald Trump. That he could shoot a person on Fifth Avenue in daylight because the consequences would be small because different rules apply to him.

I would like to think that if I were in the auditorium I would have stood and asked all for an immediate reckoning. Maybe I would have had some followers.

Will Smith, like Donald Trump, filled a vacuum of leadership and when unchallenged, he continued.

A dreadful, dreadful night.

Many thanks.
