There is always a feeling of "let down" when what is delivered is way less than promised. Some real achievements by the Biden administration need celebrating however. Child poverty has been lowered by a quarter and a smaller but still significant infrastructure package was signed into law.

The real problem goes back to the 2020 elections. An overwhelming win for Democrats was NOT achieved in the House, Senate and even for Biden himself. The left of the party have been operating with a blind eye to this reality although to their credit were very successful at moving Biden somewhat left.

The path going forward for Democrats is problematic. History says chances of keeping majorities in both houses in the midterms are scant. And Biden lacks, say Bill Clinton's talent, of getting much achieved in this more difficult environment.

Although anything overt has to wait for the midterm results, the question of maintaining the White House will become primo. Both Biden and Harris have qualifications to lose. Biden will be just too old and in many ways out is of step with the future. And Harris? Has demonstrated not an ounce of political savvy.

There's no dearth of Democratic talent for the presidential run in 2024. Someone who is an extraordinary speaker and communicator. A foot in the middle of the country would be more than helpful. An inner city person, even one as talented as Cory Booker, would be severely handicapped.

Many thanks.
