The Wine Cave Snub
I ask myself, would Elizabeth Warren be ok, if the chandelier was of plastic instead of crystals, and the wine was cardboard boxed instead of carefully bottled from the Hall estate? Maybe so. And, perhaps the guests should have arrived in ten year old Chevrolets and Hondas, instead of their new Teslas and BMWs? Bandolino’s on their toes as opposed to Louboutin’s? What would her purpose be in removing these enjoyable, beautiful but expensive accoutrements? Would the world make a better turn? Would the needy be less needy?
But, way more important. We live in a democracy, where everyone has an opportunity to participate and not be discriminated against — this includes millionaires, billionaires and the people at the “Wine Cave” fund raising for Pete Buttigieg. For members of the Democratic Party (or any party) to deliberately alienate part of their constituency, to me, seems foolish and counterproductive. Why snub a $10 or $2,800 contribution from anyone who, is first interested, and then wishes to help a party candidate? It is a stretch of believe, that such a contribution would sway decisions of a representative beyond the bounds of democracy.
I have to say, the “Wine Cave” looked fantastic and delivered a splendid setting for a brief, exciting close-up, question and answer to Pete Buttigieg — I would love to have been there, but alas, my name fell off the list and I was not hired as…
