The President Has to be a Great Speaker

“Delivery, Delivery and Delivery” Demosthenes

Presentation is the biggest quality of a President. I don’t mean the sexiness of the suit or the cut and shade of the dress — although these things certainly may embellish. I mean, that the President has to be a master of the delivery and the art of speaking. Look at Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, John Kennedy and both the Roosevelts. They all could command attention and convey a message powerfully, tenderly, sincerely and eloquently. These skills were not incidental, but vital, to their winning of their office.

However talented (and wealthy) Mike Bloomberg is, he is not one of the above — he speaks like an advisor.

The 2020 candidates speaking abilities

Bernie Sanders scores well for delivering his message confidently, deliberately and honestly (independent of the content of the message). The bellowing raised outstretch of arms has made Bernie iconic — the “real McCoy” of the left wing. His performance is simple, well practiced and never fails to arouse. Elizabeth Warren, too, has a gift. But her manner and voice are impatient and lack the fundamental ingredient — that of being able to listen! Here, Warren fails miserably, and will vehemently reply, even before the question has been asked — “this is not so”. Applause for her thousands of selfies, however, these are a “this I can do”…
