Surely it very much depends upon who becomes the Democratic nominee. Not statistically of value perhaps, but the likes of my household and a number of people I know, would opt for Donald Trump should the primary produce Bernie Sanders as their Presidential candidate (similar to the UK election where voters chose to stomach con man Boris Johnson over 70’s socialist throwback Jeremy Corbyn). These generally pragmatic voters are intensely critical of the Trump administration but conclude that a Sanders administration would be more detrimental for the US and the world (would consider it a one term only, megaphone over the parapet, drawbridge-up ordeal). In contrast, the same voters would be enthusiastic supporters should Pete Buttigeig be the nominee.
Old fool, Joseph Biden, would receive an acceptance I imagine. Elizabeth Warren, I don’t know which way my group would vote in a contest with Trump.
