Yes, Democrats abandoned rural and town Americans and placed their money and efforts only where they were likely to win -- big cities and the coasts.

This was to their peril because the vacuum was filled by Republicans who did little for them but were there.

The lesson has not been understood. Similarly, Democrats underfunded Florida, turning it from a swing state to a Republican.
