Steve, it may be seen as nurturing untapped talent for a new invention or fixing the plumbing.

The resistance to a base income is likely across the classes. The resentment of another made equal by not suffering is powerful.

I recall in the 1990s when Boston's St Patrick's day parade was canceled to lose everyone's enjoyment—all to deny a handful of gays participating.
