So what are you suggesting? that Harris simply waits for Joe to depart and she slides right into the presidency?

Harris and her supporters cannot (should not) assume that her position as VP carries her to the White House. The risks of being clobbered by someone with the skills of Ron DeSantis are real. She needs to be vigorously challenged by some task (currently the immigration one) to actually prove her stuff. Her record as a candidate for the Democratic nomination was less than stella. Harris collapsed before Iowa because of lack of appeal and a campaign grossly mismanaged. Why would a Harris for the presidency fare any better in 2024 or 2028? Hope and well wishing are not great ingredients for success.

The gate needs bolting open for other possible Democratic presidential candidates.
