Shankar, Biden is being hailed by many as the greatest president of a lifetime. Many want him to run for a second term.
Biden has moved the U.S. economy in ways that won't deliver prosperity. Remarkably he has made America (and the world) more protectionist by subsidizing domestic industries (climate-related stuff made here, etc.).
Biden has continued the Trump tariffs on Chinese goods, which cost American households an average of about $800 annually. He has also massively restricted technology business with China, forcing our trading partners to decide who they will do business with.
His magnificent feat of bringing the chips business back to the U.S. comes at an enormous cost which, with time, will mount. Not to be left out, our friends worldwide are now busy building their capabilities. There will be an inevitable glut (as happened with steel), and America will subsidize this industry for decades.
JOBS are indicators of an economy, but they do not drive it. JOBS sap the economy. I invite you to read "Jobs! Jobs! Jobs! Cry the Politicians."
Maintaining ONE steelworker job costs around $1M per year. Those new tech jobs are estimated to cost $6M each, and lord knows the cost of maintaining them.
America (and the world) desperately needs increased PRODUCTIVITY to meet the cost of climate, world poverty, etc. The engines of innovation, trade, and immigration must be boosted to increase wealth.
Biden has distributed some wealth and, for a time, brought many children out of poverty. His moves on immigration are slight. His protectionism countered innovation and trade and made America less competitive.
Many thanks. Best.
