Shankar, a VAT (value added tax) is preferable to regular sales tax because it works not just at retail. It would get the likes of Amazon paying tax because companies buy stuff. And while collecting any tax comes with a cost, in todays digital world the price would be OK (as I say, the cost of collecting a wealth tax would be astronomical and we would find ourselves never getting there).

Corporate and income tax could become obsolete. The issue with VAT is that it's flat but that can be offset by a generous UBI which hopefully, in America's well being, we are heading towards.

Many thanks. A pleasure.
