We would ask India and the developing world not to build roads, factories, and schools? Modi and his counterparts elsewhere want to raise the living standards of their populations. They cannot do so without economic growth.

Moreover, rich countries need to maintain and better their living standards to be in the mood to spend the enormous sums required to control world climate.

I agree that we can stop wasting stuff, energy -- and especially water.

It will take thoughtfulness, efficiency, prosperity, and world harmony to shift us to green economies. But it's doable.

An Impediment to climate progress is an American/China divide that we are hell-bent on bringing about. I wrote, "America Must U-Turn and Avoid a Collision with China." and would value your opinion.
