Israel must think pragmatically. Having a massive ground campaign in Gaza will sap defense forces on the northern border with Hezbollah, not to mention increase tensions in the West Bank.

World opinion has already shifted to the suffering of civilians in Gaza. An Israeli ground incursion will exacerbate that shift.

Israel must find a solution for the Palestinians, and its Arab neighbors can help achieve this. An opportunity exists for the region to become more secure and prosperous if Israel behaves cleverly.
