Perhaps more can be done with our audience. Where the articles are opening vollies rather than game, set and match.

As a morning exercise in my read with the New York Times I write a paragraph or two in response to one of their opinion columnists or even the lead article. I have come to value the responses as fantastic expansions and multiplications of the originals (and would never return now to a paper edition). Columnist Nicholas Kristof actually takes time to respond to reader's comments. Medium and Politically Speaking writers could reinforce and continue their thoughts by making way more use of the response column. Too few will offer a thought back to the reader or even say thanks.

Also writers are a sizable audience for each others work and perhaps more reading (and comments) can be generated by simply engaging ourselves.

Blake Nordstrom reiterated something from his Great Grandfather (who co-founded Nordstrom) that the most important part of the store is not staff or merchadise but the customers.

Many thanks

Oh, I did turn my notes to the NYT into TAKE on OPINION which I also publish weekly on MEDIUM.
