The fossil fuel business has likely peaked and will wind down because alternative green energy is cheaper. No “drill, baby, drill,” or opening of new oil territory will induce oil companies to make senseless decisions.

That said, the green transition must move more quickly. Impediments to this include Americans not taking full advantage of Chinese prowess in green products and technology. We should be driving inexpensive EVs, using solar panels, and wind turbines excellently made in China.

But we don’t because of popular animosity which Trump championed and Biden panders to. Lifting the tariffs on these goods (EVs now at 100%) would rapidly move America along that easy part of green transition.

Instead of propping the American automotive industry , and the like, the administration should be significantly backing R&D to find solutions for big transport vehicles, planes, manufacturing of steel, cement, and fertilizers applied world wide.
