Israel is dialoguing with Hamas through third parties.

Netanyahu, over decades, has dialogued with Hamas. It can be argued that Hamas and Netanyahu kept each other in power.

As you say, changing the nature of cultists is difficult to impossible. But that is not needed because their support can be channeled away. In Ireland, the hardline IRA, who were responsible for many atrocities, had a political wing that today is a legitimate political party.

Unfortunately, Israel's destruction of Gaza has created a population more hostile to Israel and likely more supportive of Hamas or a replacement outfit.

Bad leadership has undermined Israeli security and prosperity. Hopefully, ordinary Israelis will wake up to this sooner rather than later.
