Passionate Gary Janosz.

I'm unsure that beating up on the wealthy is going to get us anywhere. They don't have absolute control over tax laws and anyway congress can change them. I recall Mike Bloomberg being attacked in a particular finger-pointing from Elizabeth Warren over taxation of the wealthy. Bloomberg's response was that he just follows the rules and that she in the Senate is positioned better that he to do something about.

A value added tax (as opposed to sales tax that effects only retail) is probably the fairest way to go. Companies spend money through their production and this is a way for them to pay tax. Currently we have some huge companies not paying income tax because their profits are zero although they are growing enormously in wealth.

Do away with corporate tax because in today's world it doesn't work. At the same time the VAT could also replace our traditional income tax. It would amount to a flat tax but the ill effects of that could be countered by a base income for all.

Many thanks
