Passionate article Mike Weisser.
The U.S. essentially surrendered to the Taliban with the deal that Trump and Pompeo made back when they met. "You can have Afghanistan but don't kill Americans as we leave". That was a god awful give-way -- but, then what can you expect from two buffoons.
The engagement in Afganistan had already been managed so that American and NATO force loss of life was small and the ongoing cost afordable to us.
Joe Biden with popular American opinion followed along with the cut and run when he had the option to at least knock it into better shape. But unfortunitly we have a President with a rock for a head. So now we (along with our alies who are hardly ever mentioned) have totally discarding the small but significant achievements that we could have come away with. One being a much better way of life for a good number of Afghans and particularly women.
Biden's cursory (and disinterested) treatment of our exit does not serve him well -- and shouldn't. Perfectly valid critism can come from anywhere.
What do we get from our cut and run? Further deterioration of relationships with our alies and fodder for our foes -- including increased risk from extremist groups down the pike.
Many thanks
