Nadin, preparation for negotiations must be part of the defense of Ukraine because the ousting of Putin from all Ukrainian territory may become impossible or unbearably costly and damaging.

The mission must not be allowed to creep or get confused: something at which America has proven proficient. The Biden administration is prone to enable popular sentiment to displace leadership in foreign policy -- e.g., Afghanistan and China in many aspects.

Removing Putin from Ukraine should remain the mission. This would deter Putin and other authoritarian leaders from attempting similar attacks.

That the defeat of Putin's war in Ukraine precipitates a breakup of Russia should not be a surprise. Putin's attempt at getting Ukraine under his thumb is likely linked to fears of Russian devolution of states.

If you have not read my "Time for America and NATO to Act," I invite you to.

Many thanks. Your work is always valuable.
