Mike Meyer, passionate and you are absolutely right that now is a time of reckoning. Because of COVID people have paused to take stock and perhaps redirect their lives.
Reducing economic activity is a popular sentiment but realistically few in the world would really want that.
Dramatically increasing the U.S (and world) economy would provide the prosperity needed to transfer the globe to green energy. The change is massively expensive and needs championing by the rich countries like the U.S. (as the developing world can not afford it).
That prosperity can come by getting capitalism and socialism to embrace each other and move together. It would involve the liberalisation of the three engines of prosperity. And they are inovation, trade and immigration. I had an op-ed in Hearst papers touching on the subject and an editied article on MEDIUM which I invite you to read "Happiness and Wealth -- it Takes Two to Tango".
Many thanks
