Michael Kevin Spencer, you are correct that the huge disparity of wealth in the U.S. and the world is unsustainable. It has consequences such as Brexit and dysfunctional government here in America. Dealing with pandemics and the warming of the earth require some kind of harmony which is becoming increasingly difficult.
That we have billionaires is fine. They are a varied bunch and many can be very helpful (even instrumental) in solving some of our problems.
Overwhelmingly billionaires DON'T take money away from us. They are rich at our expense is a fallacy and needs bunking because it is a distraction.
I recall in a primary debate Elizabeth Warren berating poor Mike Bloomberg for paying insufficient tax. His response (which was under appreciated at the time) was that she in the senate was better positioned than he to do something about that. He just follows the tax rules.
Unfortunately capitalism has become a catch all word that describes everything that is evil in our society. I don't think you subscribe to that and that you understand the flow of money, goods and services is vital to our prosperity -- and happiness.
That said we are wasting way too much talent by not investing in ALL living in America. Generally lifting opportunities not just for the wealthy or lucky few. We also shoot ourselves in the foot by not having many more folk enter the country to help us out.
Many thanks.
