Voters defaulted to Trump because Biden failed to describe a promising American future. His was a regurgitation of the past, much like Trump. Harris spoke of "turning the page" but never explained to what.

The most critical element of the Democratic presidential defeat (they had successes elsewhere) was the poor caliber of nominees Biden and Harris.

Along with Al Gore and Hillary Clinton, they were selected by the Democratic establishment and not the voters. Because of their talent, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama circumvented this system and won elections and second terms.

The nominees selected by the establishment were lackluster and unable to connect with the voter audience.
