MartinEdic, the Republicans are currently tripping over themselves, which offers Democrats time to strengthen their position for 2024 and the future.

Remaining with the Biden/Harris ticket feels comfortable for many but is with risk and needs to be weighed against Biden (being persuaded to step aside) and Democrats having an open primary where a younger and more talented candidate can surface.

Joe Biden is currently doddering, which will only worsen in the six years ahead (Biden gave a surprisingly good State of the Union address, but in an interview with Judy Woodruff (PBS) the following day, he was incoherent and almost unwatchable).

The age question is not going away. Although Biden has the advantage of incumbency, he still has to campaign, and it would be wise for Democrats to believe the opposition is formidable. Biden is a poor campaigner, as is Harris.

Biden has received much credit in recent months, but apt sources already scrutinize his actions (and non-actions). He is taking America on a protectionist and isolationist path that will neither deliver prosperity nor security. We have a dismal relationship with our biggest trading partner, China. Biden is setting up a chips industry in America that will NEVER be profitable. Like trade, our foreign policy has continued along Trump lines.

Democrats can do better than Joe Biden. He needs to step aside.
