Luis, I can't speak for Spain, but I suspect there are some similarities with the U.S.

There has been paranoia over China to the point where the government ordered the shooting down of balloons -- only one being Chinese and the rest American hobbyists (one, I understand, still tied to the handle of a Barbecue in suburban America). To say that this was lunacy understates the episode in American history.

Americans have benefitted enormously from China doing our manufacturing. We would be considerably poorer today if this were not the case. Furthermore, China, for decades, has financed the U.S. internal deficit, allowing Americans an even higher lifestyle.

I can't remember America ever having a trade surplus with China. But this isn't concerning in the scheme of things (except for Trump, whose economic buffoonery would challenge that in his foreign affairs).

I am likely at odds with Professor Julian Pavon, not to mention most Americans.

Please read my piece "America Must U-Turn and Avoid a Collision with China"

It's always great hearing from Spain. Best.
