These proposed tariffs will make everyone poorer. For example, replacing a refrigerator will cost $1,250 instead of $1,000, and a laptop could almost double the current price (they need not be made in Mexico or China).

The average household will pay upwards of $4,000 annually for the tariffs. Wealthy folk will pay most of the tariffs (as they do taxes), but theirs is a smaller portion of their earnings.

The tariffs will be damaging internationally, particularly for Mexico (it's estimated that they would cost Germany 1% of its GDP).
