Lauren Martinchek, be careful not to fall into the belief that a left leaning administration would be less corrupt than a right leaning one. Or, maybe more important, that state run institutions would be less corrupt than privately run businesses. The Bernie Sanders’ model of shifting administration to public hands tends to increases the incentive for corruption (apart from gross inefficiencies and their subsequent costs). Sanders’ model also has an authoritarian arm which is frightening. I, for one, do not want either an old curmudgeon or a young AOC telling me what I can, or cannot, buy and setting the price.

Would you buy a phone or computer that the US government designed and manufactured? I wouldn’t. Maybe a school, a railway system or an aircraft carrier, but even there it is desirable to have private sector components.

A Sanders’ administration would not deliver freedom, wealth and happiness. It would be isolationist, less secure and miserable — just like Bernie.
