Lauren Elizabeth, I thought at the time they were mistakes for the U.S. to move into both Afghanistan and Iraq. I still think so.
We need to remember that our actions, at the time of entering each country, were hugely popular with the American public. There is something else too: these actions by Presidents have to be compared with NON actions. As an example with Syria, Obama sat on his hands and for the most part did not involve the the U.S. One huge reason was that the American population overwhelmingly did not have the stomach for war. But the result was that over half a million lives perished and the enormous suffering to four times as many (quite possibly the refiguring of Europe with Bexit as well).
A question for you? Was George H. W. Bush wrong for the Kuwait war? or Margaret Thatcher for the Falkland Islands war?
