Lauren Elizabeth, I certainly understand the need to get the vaccines out to the rest of the world as quickly as possible. It is also in our own interests to do so. But, Biden is not a dictator to stomp on our patent laws even when humanitarian reasons suggest he should. The patent laws certainly can be changed but within our democratic system. The U.S. is rapidly becoming awash with covid vaccines and the world given a bit more time is also likely to be. Dismissing patent laws will discourage more players from entering or continuing in the vaccine business. The more players means better distribution and lower prices to us and the world -- this pandemic, and the following ones.
