Lauren Elizabeth, Bernie had his best shot in 2020 and although he didn't win he was enormously influential. Although the Democratic Party rallied around one moderate candidate depriving Bernie of an advantage, Bernie still lost the nomination to a pretty unimpressive candidate.
I wrote a short piece on Bernie Sanders here on MEDIUM.
Apart from being old (but mentally appears more together than Biden), he doesn't have much more to add should he run in 2024. I don't know how he would attract NEW voters. Kind of the same as Trump -- god forbid that he choose to run.
Democrats need someone who can take America into whole new world of prosperity and security. Neither Joe nor Bernie are that person. There is a ton of talent on the Democratic side for the presidency that was on display in the 2020 primaries.
The obvious person for the nomination would be (and began as an avid follower of Bernie Sanders)Pete Buttigieg. He, like Bernie, is smart and a extraordinary communicator. There are others such as Cory Booker although viewed as too inner city, and Amy Klobuchar who is probably too much Minnesota.
A candidate more to the left? I'm not sure who is appealing at this time. Who are you thinking apart from Bernie?
Many thanks.
