May be if we can find a different word for capitalism because the word itself is so charged with a bunch of different understandings and connotations that first have to be sorted.
The exchange of people, goods and money have made our standard of living possible and there is no substitute for that. I think more what we are talking about is the distribution of wealth and opportunity.
The distribution of cash directly into the hands of individuals earlier in the year was remarkably successful in countering the consequences of a pandemic. I would argue it has a place in more regular times as well but of course we need an engine to pay for it.
