Putin has a record of being careful and calculated in his behavior. He has chosen a time of America's special "indifference" to the world. Unfortunately a trend since the U.S. led wasteful invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.

Those two wars were enormously costly because precious U.S. "public concern" for the global was squandered. It left us with damaged spines and resolve to address this MAJOR event today and to Care about Russia's invasion in Ukraine.

Not to sound cynical, but the U.S. is off the hook legally with Ukraine because it's not part of NATO. Hence sanctions are the only weapons we are willing to use (which are continual difficult to hold agreement and effectiveness). One of the Baltic states (or perhaps Romania) being part of NATO is very different. We are bound to defend it as we would America. This needs fully understanding by every American. A MUST, otherwise we have a HUGE problem.
