The price for insulin in the U.S. is skewed by Americans not having direct access to the international market of the drug and medicare not prohibited from negotiating the price.

If these two things were the case the price of insulin would plummet. Blame the law makers and a sleepy population willing to go along with it.

Your example is protectionism at its worst.
