It's important to separate out the adverse impacts of AI, Yes? Likelihood of discrimination and invasion of privacy are very different from the huge concern of shifts in employment and unemployment that has through the centuries accompanied innovation.

We can easily slide into protectionism (under the guise of ethics). And have the progress and great benefits of AI cut back. In much the same way that (especially today) trade and immigration (our two other big engines of prosperity) continue to be hampered. Hampered because the relatively small downsides were not addressed.

So I guess my point and question to you is that we should be very upfront with what the issues surrounding AI really are.
