John, there are opportunities from this tragedy and suffering if they can be recognized and seized.

The on-hold situation with the Palestinians is now busted. Israelis are forced to think. And act cleverly to ensure their security and prosperity.

The key (always has been) is the settlement of the Palestinian issue. Today, a Palestinian state is closer to reality. Israel and surrounding Arab countries have begun a normalization process because it's understood to be in mutual interest.

Suppose Israelis can accept that a neighboring Palestinian state is an asset. In that case, they can create the other homeland with the help of their new Arab relationships -- Saudi Arabia as the most important.

An Israeli ground attack on Gaza, creating hell out of hell, is the WORST action to take. America needs to be outspoken concerning the dangers and dead-end consequences.
