John, the U.S. is inconsistent and biased with its efforts abroad. You point to good examples.
Ukraine stood out because of Zelenskyy. He put the spine back into democracy and America and the West responded to this bravery. Should Ukraine had capitulated it would have been a story more like Crimea.
In defense of the U.S., consistency is really tough. To venture into a conflict, it has to be first doable. And then, the BIG ONE, it needs public support. Ukraine has both (although a direct confrontation with Russia may well be different). Syria, was achievable but had no popular enthusiasm for America (that public "willing" was not in the bank as it had already been spent on Afghanistan and Iraq).
Because we mass attention on Ukraine doesn't necessarily mean it has to lack elsewhere. Also getting our piorities right is essential. For example our fundamental relationship with China is our mutual security and prosperity. They far outweighs human rights abuses of China, as awful as they are.
