John, DeSantis is in a different category because he could be elected president in 2024. He is clever with burning ambition and is regarded as successful governor of a successful state.

It can useful for Democrats to assume DeSantis will be the Republican Nominee. It could shock them out of their complacency with either Biden or Harris.

So far Democrats appear in denial that both Biden and Harris are qualified to lose. There was a tentative article in the NYT last week questioning their viability and this week's Economist had a bolder piece asking what the democrats are doing about the problem.
