John, Biden's selfish decision has placed voters in the position of "You've gotta vote for me; otherwise, America will go to hell under Donald Trump."

Biden has singlehandedly elevated Trump by making him the campaign issue. Many in Washington (including Joe) would be delighted if Donald were the Republican opponent.

This is a dangerous game that Tom Friedman (NYT) is, the day after Biden’s announcement, clutching at straws in his Op-ed on 04/26, "Why Kamala Harris Matters So Much in 2024."
