John, American companies manufacturing in developing countries actually did us all a great favor. We in the U.S. were able to buy quality, less expensive products (and components for those still produced here) and the folk in the developing world were able to dramatically improve their lives in places like Japan, India, Mexico, Vietnam, Turkey and others. The big one was China -- wow, that was fantastic.
With all our grumbles, we are hugely better off than we were post WWII.
We are at a point where changes are rapidly taking place that blow up traditional ideas of work and jobs. You tend to fall into the trap of PROTECTING work and jobs. This is counterproductive, if not futile. By ELIMINATING work and jobs we actually create more than enough wherewithal to pay for any downside.
This requires a substantial change in the way we view our new world and how we manage it.
That those folk you mention make so many Billions is a GOOD sign and not a bad one to be torn down. However we need to restructure so we have less disparity of income. This can be done so that all people benefit -- including the billionaires.
Many thanks. Always fun.
