John,
George W won against Gore because he was likable compared to a pompous bore.
The likability factor is an enormous advantage; without it, the chances are slim. Biden made it by default after forty years and on the third try. Nixon eventually made it after those charismatic Kennedys got out of the bloody way.
Hillary Clinton was never likable. Others in the category include Ron DeSantis, Elizabeth Warren, Michael Dukakis, and Walter Mondale.
The likable include Boris Johnson (a total shit), Pete Buttigieg, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Silvio Berlusconi, Ronald Reagan, and JFK.
As awful as he is, Donald Trump is likable -- something many on the left can't figure.
When Kamala Harris is asked for more details, voters are mostly looking for likability, which is not in the offering.
Harris could raise her likability index by sincerely discussing the big strokes of the American future and exciting voters' aspirations. Should we continue the protectionist and isolationist policies of Trump and Biden? How does America swiftly shift to a green economy? What is our relationship with China? How do we increase economic mobility? Etc. Unfortunately, Harris has yet to consider these and communicate her vision.
Many thanks. Best.
