Joel, this desperation in your title can be avoided by Joe Biden stepping out of the way. But he refuses because people in powerful, comfortable positions stay.

The obvious course to any with half a brain is to immediately leverage old Joe out of the way so that Democrats can have an open primary where a younger and more talented nominee can be selected. If there is no time for this, then time must be made.
