Jessica Wildfire, you are talking about the "American dream" -- I always thought it a bit of a con. Oh, there's some truth in it -- in the way that, some poor souls win millions in a lotteries. But of course, many others chip in to make that happen. Unlike the lottery though, which is simple redistribution after the operators and taxmen have taken their guaranteed share, people who successfully make money by either building something or having special talent -- that others want. In other words they actually ADD to other peoples lives and not (as you imply somewhat) take something away.
The thing is, we in America (and plenty of other places I'm sure) waste talent and only a lucky few make it from "Rags to Riches". Many, many more could make it should there be a much better economic platform for them to spring from. And, their riches don't have to come from you or I.
I wrote "Wings to Fly -- a Platform for All" here on MEDIUM, that suggests a way we can ALL be lifted.
Thanks, great article!
