Jan Slort,
China is fantastic at manufacturing which has lifted millions of Chinese from poverty and lifted American living standards significantly.
Americans could be taking advantage of China's offering of excellent EVs and save themselves (an average of) $11,000 in buying one.
But instead we continue the tariffs on Chinese imports which cost the average American household upwards of $400 annually.
Access to Chinese made EVs would lower inflation, get climate under control more rapidly and increase living standards. What's not to like?
We don't want to be paying subsidies to the American auto industry and their employees. Better to move on to where Americans have a competitive edge rather than returning to past-profitable industries and continued bail-outs and new rounds of unemployment and rust belt.
I invite you to read "America Must U-Turn and Avoid a Collision with China," on our relationship with China.
Many thanks. Best.
