America has an efficient internal market across the fifty states, whereas the EU has always struggled to achieve this with countries. The economic consequences are substantial.

Greater streamlining to one economic unit is essential for growth, , populism, and poor leadership hamper this (although, ironically, consensus on the immigration threat unites them).

Following Trump and Biden placing tariffs on Chinese EVs, solar panels, etc., hurts employment, productivity, growth, and living standards.
