Colonialism was essentially about trade. Did it include some bad things happening-- absolutely. But, without the flow of people, money and goods (mainly raw resources originallly) you and I would not have the length of lifespan, schooling and internet to post your good thoughts. Trade bettered our lives and hopefully will continue to do so. Stymie trade and certainly our material living standards will deteriorate along with the softer stuff of democracy. Personally, I don't wish for that because it would hurt the majority of people in this world.
